While there are many benefits of having a walk-in wardrobe, not everyone has the space to build them. If this is the case for you too, you might consider converting a bedroom into a walk-in wardrobe or even merging a walk-in closet with your wardrobe.
Let’s take a look at how this can be done and what factors need to be considered:
If you keep running out of storage space and you have an extra bedroom in the house that you don’t use much, then turning it into a walk-in wardrobe will be one of the best decisions you’ll ever take.

The cost of converting a bedroom into a walk-in closet depends on the size of the wardrobe and the quality of the wardrobe that you’re going for.
At FCI London, we only deal with high-end Italian and German wardrobes so the costs start at £2000 per linear meter.
The cost of a walk-in wardrobe also varies based on the kind of interiors and accessories that you choose.

Apart from converting a bedroom into a walk-in wardrobe, another option is to merge your bedroom with the walk-in wardrobe.
This can easily be done if your bedroom is big enough to accommodate both sections and if it isn’t we can still work something out to help you keep your bed in the room.
If you have a big bedroom, then the easiest approach is to divide the room in half by using a wardrobe as a divider and using the other half of the room as a walk-in wardrobe (as seen in the image below on the left).
In case you want the walk-in wardrobe to be an enclosed space then instead of using a wardrobe as a partition, you can install sliding glass doors to divide the room.
The other option is slightly more complicated as it can be off-putting if not done the right way. This is to adjust the bed in your walk-in wardrobe, in a way that seems natural and not out of place.
When it comes to building the walk-in wardrobe, you have the option of doing it yourself or getting a company involved. But converting a bedroom into a walk-in wardrobe is a complicated process as compared to building a simple wardrobe, so we feel that in this scenario, it is best to go with a company.
Make sure that you choose one with good reviews and with a talented design team that will survey the room, discuss your requirements and come up with a plan that makes the best use of every inch of your bedroom space.
A walk-in wardrobe is a lifelong investment and especially when you’re converting a bedroom into a wardrobe, you can’t risk making any mistakes. So if you need help at any part of this journey, feel free to get in touch with our award-winning wardrobe design team.
